I need help to fix no power Switch lite

I got Swith lite with no power

When I charge it I see around 15v but power is not working.

So I teardown it and do the short test and I found several short point around MAX77620h and MAX77812 chip

What should I do? Do I need change MAX77620h, MAX77812 or both?

resistance to ground at these points? probably not shorted :slight_smile:

Though the CPU/GPU reg IC below the SoC does look like it’s potentially damaged, can you zoom in on that IC so I can see? might just be the top coating so you might be fine.

agreed, and also a chunk out the inductor and signs somone has been monkeying around with the CPU/GPU reg. Looks like it’s been through the wars…

I took photo again. I don’t know exactly what is happended it, becasue I bought it used one.

Definitely I can see MAX77812 and around grey component are damaged.

So I have a plan to replace MAX77812 and grey component.
Here is my question what the grey compnent name is qnd how can I buy new one??

And do you think any other problem?

I would clean up those test pads and check reading before doing any replacement

pads look good, you could measure diode mode reading but not necessary in this case.

The missing resistor is likely a 10k ohm 0201 size, I dont have lite board but v1/v2 has 10k ohm at the F7 pin connected to wifi chip.

I got taken out resistor, because it is taken out when I brused the board.

so I’m gonna try to fix it

  1. to replace MAX77812
  2. to replace the grey component
  3. to solder a missing ressitor

Grey components called inductor. The value and recommended part number can be found in Max77812 datasheet. You could buy them from SMD components distributors (i.e Mouser/Digikey)

Your max77812 seems just the upper skin came off, the marked grey component/inductor looks ok to me. You can check the inductor in continuiyt mode and it should beep from left to right

confirmed with lite came in today.
For troubleshooting board issue, you need to understand what stage the board been stuck/hung on, and what voltage is missing or what current draw from Vsys(battery, not charge port)

left one is little lower than your number
and middle one of course I can’t checked it

Acorrding to advice, I’m gonna check M92T36. However I have a question. What is the current value resistance’s ohm around M92T36?

I found several images but it’s all Switch, NOT Switch Lite.

I’m a beginner, so I can’t understand datasheet.

and should I check volts from resistance?

No, you should check what voltages are present at this point around max77812.
