Ps5 EDM 001 ripped fan connector - no trace left for PWM - trace/solderpad on the other side of the board is also gone - where does the PWM signal come from?

hwy guys,

on idiot of technician managed to burn of traces/solder pads for PWM on both side of the board. now im lookin for the origin of the pwn signal so i can fix this console. does anyone know where the pwm signal originates?

thx!

The PWM signal for the fan is generated by the southbridge.

thx for your reply. is it possible to run the fan without a PWM signal? maybe by modifying the fan itself?

Sure, but why. The fan speed should depend on the heat inside the PS5 and not on someone turning up and down the fan.

the problem is after cleaning thoroughly around the connector i realized they drilled a whole through to board. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: there is nothing to solder on. in another thread you said there is no other point to solder on and i dont want to lift southbridge. i guess i would be happy if the fan could run at a fixed speed. maybe as bonus variably. can you please tell me what needs to be modified?

just out of curiosity: do you know which pad underneath the SB is PWM?

THX!

do you know a point where 12v is only present when the console is turned on?

I don’t think there is any.12v is directly from psu which is always present when ac cable plugged-in. 5v, 3.3v and 1.8v standby always on when initial sequence goes through.

Tho the pin in the SouthBridge is F12 (as indicated in the included image), you can run a wire from the fan connector (center pin) to the capacitor under it (on the other side).
