I bought two used Xbox controllers for 60 bucks. I was able to connect them to my PC and test the controllers. One of them had real bad stick drift so I replaced the two joysticks to solve this problem. I used a soldering iron and solder wick.
After soldering on the new joysticks and putting it back together, the controller no longer works properly. It will either not power on at all or randomly power on and the haptic motor will go non stop until I unplug it. If it seems to power on normally, it will not be recognized by my PC when plugged in via USB. When trying to connect wirelessly if I can make it that far, it will not connect wirelessly either. But most of the time it’ll surge on and off.
So it seems to be a power issue to me but everything looks ok and the capacitors near the joysticks also seem ok when doing an ohm check.
Anyone know what specifically I can check to see what the issue is and get that piece replaced?
