PS5 80870003 UART Code

Hey y’all, I get that UART code as above whenever I try to restore licenses. Everything works fine except for digital games. Any ideas? Could it be really SSD Controller related?

80870003 means boot failed at the ssd controller. I would expect a bad ssd controller or a short around the ssd pmic. So I’m bit confuse about “Everything works fine…”

I’m getting CE-105628-2 which tells me that SSD controller is faulty. Console works fine except for digital licenses for games.

At CE-105628-2 I would expect 80870004: ssd controller boot failed: Couldn’t read error informations.

Disc games are working?

Yes, all disk games works fine. Sorry for misleading then, I found that UART on internet regarding my problem.

I would connect UART and see what error code is on the NOR

So UART will also give me NOR errors? I had no clue about it, thanks. I’ll respond to this thread tomorrow once I connect UART. Have a nice day.

UART will give you the errors that the southbridge encountered. They are stored on the NOR chip.

Well, UART is not showing any problems even after I try to restore licenses. Console shows CE-105628-2 but nothing on UART.

Whenever I try to start game without veryfing licenses it says “content unavaible. Can’t connect to server and verify license. Wait a while and try again.” It’s weird since I can login to PSN and play multiplayer games when using on disks.

UART is more at the hardware level, if power or data lines fail, components are sending fail states, the southbridge will recognize them. On software level UART is not so usefull.

Is the NOR data the original data that came with the PS5? Or had a been reflashed?

It was previously in IDU mode so I did have to reflash it. Not gonna lie - it was my first time.

Did you only change the bit for IDU mode or did you took a whole donor from another PS5?

Good question, I changed that one bit regarding IDU mode but it didn’t work. To be totally honest - I’m not sure if I have my original bios or someone else’s since I did downloaded some to try taking idu mode off. However I’m sure that I’ve changed the SN t

To match my original one.

Do you still have the original dump?

I’m afraid no. How big of a problem is that?

There are more informations stored on the NOR data than the serial number.

The editing for deactivating IDU of your original dump wasn’t successfull, because the first spot 0x001C9600 wasn’t the active slot. I guess the second slot was active 0x001CC600 and should have be changed.
And there is more thight to this setting, because PSN is rejecting the connection for verifying licenses.

Okay I just checked my PC and I do have some dumps. Is there any way to check if any particular one is mine?

Open the dump. Go to 1C7210 and compare the serial number with the one which is printed on the mainboard or housing
